Hello there!

I’m Nadine Smith and I love making vibrant, joyful art. 

My artistic language is color, shape and texture. I build my work in layers, creating iconic pieces that weave text, collage, inks, acrylic, spray paint and a plethora of marking tools.  I am often drawn to urban wildlife, scenic land forms and human invention.  I am also an avid book reader and find that the language of words and stories influence my creative process. 

I began my art career working with diverse communities making mosaic murals and water color installations.  I also spent many formative years teaching art and helping others ignite their creative passion.  For the past few years, I’ve focused primarily on  expressing my own joy and optimism for life by creating works that center around a theme of connection- riding a bike and feeling the earth beneath you, catching the eyes of animal staring back at you, breathing in the color of a forest, city square or looming mountain.  

I hope you find these pieces a reminder of all the unseen colors in the world, and that their stories inspire your own.
